Attention Adelaide artists: applications are now open for the Stigwood Fellowships. Now in its 2nd year, the program offers personalised professional development and connections across the globe for local musicians AND industry entrepreneurs. Introduced by the State Government (through the Music Development Office and Arts SA) in 2014, recipients in the inaugrual crop of fellowships included hot acts Tkay Maidza and Bad//Dreems.
The program is named for Adelaide expat Robert Stigwood, one of the most successful figures in the entertainment world in the 1960s and ’70s, managing iconic groups the Bee Gees and Cream, theatrical productions Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar and films including Saturday Night Fever.
In the first part of the Stigwood Fellowship Program, “Industry Fellows”, Stuart MacQueen of boutique Australian music company Wonderlick Entertainment will mentor emerging South Australian music industry entrepreneurs who are working in music management or other areas of artist representation.
With “Artist Fellows”, programs are tailored to the needs of the participating artists and may include song writing, production, business skills, marketing and public relations, and attendance at conferences and high-level industry meetings.
