2018 is the 14th year that the Semaphore Music Festival supports local South Australian live music around the heritage precincts of Semaphore/Port Adelaide over the Long Weekend Friday 28 September to Monday 1 October.
The participating venues this year include Hart’s Mill Flour Shed in Port Adelaide which is the hub of the SMF with two stages and a wild array of food trucks and bevvies from Coopers, Koonara Winery and KI Distillery on Sunday and Monday. Pubs, clubs and businesses around Semaphore, Glanville and Exeter, including Semaphore Workers Club, Lickerish Kitchen & Bar, Exeter Hotel, The Fed, Cumberland Hotel, Hades Hula House, Mr V Music, Semaphore Port Adelaide RSL, The Palais Hotel and St Bede’s Hall will have their curated programs throughout the weekend.
Venues will present their shows from Friday 28 September through to Monday 1 October starting with the Official Opening Event at the Semaphore Workers Club presenting double headlining acts Zkye Blue and Kings & Associates.
The Americana Music Association of Australia will host acts appearing at the Semaphore Workers Club on Saturday 30 September with Tara Carragher presenting ‘Righteously: The Music of Lucinda Williams’ supported by Matt Ward and The Heggarties.
The Semaphore Workers Club will present favourites The Streamliners and Eric ‘Tooch’ Santucci on Sunday 4pm to 8pm. The Semaphore/Port Adelaide RSL is hosting a very special tribute to ‘Cohen & Waits’with Rohan Powell and Ian ‘Polly’ Politis on Sunday 30thSeptember 8pm to 11pm.
The Semaphore Music Festival hub will be located at Hart’s Mill precinct in Port Adelaide on Sunday 30 September & Monday 1 October. Join us for a street party with delicious food, fully licensed bar and great local SA Live Music. Sunday 30 September will see the return of community groups Born on Monday Choir and the Adelaide Ukulele Appreciation Society, followed by an amazing selection of bands including Already Gone, Dirtyfrank, Angelik, Imogen Brave, The Northern Lites, and Ron the Ox.
The FREE BSide Community Stagein Mundy Street will host local singer songwriters and acoustic acts over the two days with D. Henry Fenton, Sofia Torchia, Ben Searcy, Fergus Maximus, Courtney Robb & Snooks La Vie, andRapscallion performing on Sunday. Paula Standing, David Robinson, Amy Jennifer, James Hickey, Kylie Brice and Moosehairwill be playing on Monday 1 October.
Monday 1 October at Hart’s Mill Flour Shed don’t miss the APRA/AMCOS Songwriter Speaks panel, moderated by Alana Jagt featuring Mary Webb, Nick Kipridis, Naomi Keyte, Angie and Steve Portolesi sharing their personal song writing process. This is FREE for APRA/AMCOS members.
At 2pm Semaphore Songs composers Mary Webb, Naomi Keyte, Angie and Steve Portolesi will perform their individual sets followed by Nancy Bates, Tara Carragher, Emily Davis, Jessica Wishart showcasing their reconciliation songs. The afternoon will wind up with a rare performance by Velvet Moth and the Emily Davis Band playing material from her new album – You, Me and the Velvet Sea.
