Music SA Chair Anne Wiberg today announced the resignation of Music SA CEO Lisa Bishop.
DUE TO COVID-19 disruptions, this position will only be advertised officially from the 1st of June 2020.
“Lisa has been an outstanding leader and, over the past five years, has taken Music SA from strength to strength. She has introduced new and exciting products and services for contemporary musicians and the wider industry, has attracted a talented team and built the profile of Music SA locally and nationally,” says Ms Wiberg.
During her time as CEO Lisa Bishop steered the creation of Umbrella Festival (which has grown by 30% every year since 2016), launched a re-branded South Australian Music Awards, produced new tools and resources for musicians, councils and venues, introduced an annual Live Music Census, created the nationally recognised Scouted showcase and managed Music SA as a Registered Training Organisation.
Ms Bishop has brought new sponsors, philanthropists and funders into the Music SA stable, and for the first time attracted triennial state government funding, as well as financial support from the City of Adelaide, Moshtix, and the AHA (SA Branch). As a spokesperson on important music industry issues, Ms Bishop helped build a positive media profile for local musicians, helped streamline live music regulation and ran industry focussed training programs.
“I’m extremely grateful for my time as CEO of Music SA and proud of what’s been achieved for musicians. You are only ever as good as the people you surround yourselves with and I have an incredible team, an outstanding Chair, a supportive board and a very switched on network of local and national music industry stakeholders. It has been a pleasure to work in the role and I am looking forward to supporting Music SA’s future endeavours,” Ms Bishop says.
The role will be advertised immediately, and the new incumbent expected to start in May. Ms Bishop will focus on her board work (she is currently Deputy Chair of the Adelaide Fringe), and pursue part-time opportunities that allow her to spend more time with her family while her son studies year 12 and her husband sets up a new architectural practice.
Ms Wiberg says: “Lisa leaves the organisation in a stronger and healthier position for the time that she spent as CEO and we wish her the very best with her future endeavours.”
