As you may have already heard, Music SA has some big changes afoot. We have two massive goodbyes to say to two incredible members of the Music SA team!
Our brilliant General Manager, Kim Roberts, will be stepping down after four years within the Music SA team to continue her postgraduate studies. Kim has worked within the organisation as the Head of Training, as well as General Manager. Kim led our not-for-profit’s dedicated team since the beginning of the COVID-pandemic – arguably the most challenging time that the South Australian music industry has ever faced. Her hard work, dedication, firsthand love of South Australia’s Music community and drive to support local industry will be sorely missed by all. She states:
“It’s been a pleasure and privilege to work for Music SA for four years and over two roles. My time here has been extraordinarily rewarding, despite the many challenges of COVID. I’m incredibly proud of my achievements and everything Music SA has achieved in this time, which is the result of a huge team effort from our talented, creative and driven Board and staff.”
In a week of farewells, we are also saying goodbye to our wonderful Board Chair, Anne Wiberg, who has stepped down after a whopping nine years of dedicated work. Her passion for music, expertise and vibrant attitude will also be sorely missed! Anne has overseen huge development in Music SA’s role within South Australia’s music community – championing the not-for-profit with a focus on local industry development. Anne says:
“I took on the role of Music SA’s Chair nine years ago with the ambition of making positive changes and raising the profile of Music SA, both locally and nationally. I have always believed in its importance to the South Australian contemporary music industry and knew it had the potential to be an industry leader in the state, and I wanted to be a part of that journey. I am proud of my achievements during my time with Music SA, none of which would have been possible without the generous support of other expert board members and the incredibly devoted staff over the years.”
In her place we are welcoming in Josh Glenn as Music SA’s new voluntary Board Chair. His thirty years of industry experience within music, the arts, government and not-for-profits will not go amiss in the new role – with prior experience as Executive Producer at Adelaide Festival Centre, Director of Programming at Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and several arts and live entertainment Board positions. He is also the current COO of GWB Entertainment, and is thrilled to take up the challenge of leading our voluntary board.
“As excited as I am to take on the role as Chair of the Music SA Board, stepping into the immense void left by the departure of Anne Wiberg is daunting. She has left a significant mark on Music SA and is regarded so highly by the industry here in SA and nationally. I am grateful for her guidance and the strong nudge to take on this role. She will always be part of our family.” Says John.
“I also want to pay tribute to the outstanding job that Kim Roberts has done steering Music SA through an incredibly challenging period as General Manager. We wish her well, and we are excited to see what she takes on next.”
Craig Lock, Co-Owner for Five Four Entertainment, will also be joining the board for this new chapter in Music SA’s development.
“I’m genuinely excited to watch the next chapter of the organisation with John Glenn at the helm and am looking forward to my new adventures.” Says Kim Roberts.
