Calling emerging artists (including musicians, photographers, aspiring music journos.. any member of the arts industry who is emerging in their practice)!
Carclew has grants available, meaning you could receive grant funding of up to $10,000 for your next project (e.g to record your next album, press vinyls, go on tour, pay for marketing & PR… ), or up to $3,000 to help build your artistic career.

Open to artists up to 26 years old, or ATSI applicants up to 30 years old.
We applied for a Project and Development Grant to help fund the recording of our album. The funding has allowed us to pursue a level of quality we otherwise couldn’t and allowed us take full advantage of opportunities presented to us.

HAPPY MAG’S NEEDLE IN THE HAY COMP

Needle in the Hay is an annual competition and event run by Happy Mag which champions and empowers emerging Australian and New Zealand bands and musicians at a time they need it most in their careers.
With a prize pool of over $30,000 including vinyl pressing, high quality recording gear, and plug-in packages, the competition has been carefully curated to give artists the shot in the arm their projects need.

LIVE MUSIC VENUE FUNDING

See it LIVE funding of up to $60,000 is available to help you host more live music at your venue!
The new See It LIVE grant is available to support costs associated with presenting original live music in 2024, which also includes access to business advice to help you maximise your venue’s opportunity.
Costs that can be covered include artist fees, crew fees, marketing, equipment hire and more.
Applications are being accepted until Thursday 15 Feb 2024.
The $850,000 See it LIVE Music Activation Fund is delivered through the South Australian Government’s Music Development Office and aims to support small, dedicated live music venues in South Australia and sustainability in the state’s live music industry. Additional rounds may be made available until the total budget allocation for this program is exhausted.

APRA AMCOS ARTS MUSIC FUND

Grants of $7,500 are available through APRA AMCOS‘ Arts Music Fund to Aussie composers!
APRA AMCOS created the Art Music Fund, in partnership with the Australian Music Centre (AMC) and now SOUNZ Centre for New Zealand Music, in recognition of the limited opportunities for art music composers to have new works performed.
The fund supports a wide range of music styles including notated composition; electroacoustic music; improvised music (including innovative, original jazz); sound art; installation sound; multimedia, web and film sound and music; and theatrical, operatic and choreographed music.
Submissions close at 5:00PM 13 February 2024 (AEDT).

Live and Local Expressions of Interest
APRA AMCOS and the Live Music Office are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from local councils to participate in Live and Local – a Live Music Development program for local communities.
Live and Local is a comprehensive capacity building program which seeks to strengthen the ecology of local grassroots live music communities. APRA AMCOS and the Live Music Office are offering matched-funded partnership opportunities for local councils to assist them in fostering a consistent approach to best practice sustainable live music presentation, supported by better regulation and strategic policy development.
The Live and Local program supports local councils to deliver a number of key program components that are designed to increase long term live music activity, including:
- Better Regulation and Strategic Policy Development
- Establish a local music industry group
- Engage a Venues Liaison to engage local musicians and businesses for the program
- Conduct a Live Music Census
- Paid employment via micro-festival events showcasing local musicians in local businesses
- Capacity-building with professional development events and workshops
- Community engagement through a dedicated Local Industry Forum

SUPPORT ACT CRISIS RELIEF GRANTS

Crisis Relief Grants and support are available to musicians, managers, crew and music workers across all genres experiencing financial hardship as the result of illness, injury, mental health, older age or another current crisis that is impacting their ability to work in music.
Grants are assessed for a current issue impacting ability to work in music and, if approved, will be provided through direct payment of bills or other personal expenses related to the crisis, rather than cash grants. Evidence of a current crisis will be required.
Our social work team is here to help with general, practical advice and can put you in touch with other relevant services including housing, finance and care. Contact them here or check out information on other services and support here.

See it LIVE
See it LIVE is a $10 million package that will get local musicians and performers back on stage through a range of support programs for live music and hospitality venues, promoters and more.
Project Support Grants
Artists and industry representatives can receive up to $15,000 in grants supporting efforts to continue to create, connect and do business.
Export Contribution Fund
South Australian artists who receive an official invite to be showcased at some international music festivals may be eligible for $3,000 towards travel costs.
MDO LIVE MUSIC EVENTS FUND EOI

Live music is part of South Australia’s identity. A creative, vibrant industry that makes an important contribution to our economy.
The South Australian Government’s Live Music Events Fund was created to support live music events and festivals with the potential to grow into major tourist attractions. The Music Development Office, part of the Creative Industries Directorate within the Department for Industry, Innovation and Science, is administering the fund.

COUNTRY ARTS SA GRANTS

Grants are available to support arts and cultural activities in regional South Australia that are sustainable, have long term cultural, economic and social benefits, develop partnerships and cultural networks and provide skills development opportunities.
RICHARD LLEWELLYN DEAF AND DISABILITY GRANTS

This grant supports increased access to arts and cultural activities for South Australians who are deaf or identify as people with disability. Spanning all art forms, funded activity should contribute to reducing barriers for audiences and participants.
Applicants must take an innovative approach to inclusive programming and universal design, with evidence of appropriate consultation.
Repeat applications from organisations for access initiatives are not encouraged. Applications should demonstrate an evolving approach to access, aligned with strategic or business planning in a way that positions access as a core element of programmed activity.
This is a quick response grant category and applications must be discussed with Arts South Australia staff before submission.
AUSTRALIA COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS GRANTS

Nexus Arts is once again offering our funding application support service to artists from culturally diverse and First Nations backgrounds. We’re keen to help you apply for whichever Australian arts grants might help you further your project or practice, such as those offered by the Australia Council for the Arts, Arts South Australia, Carclew, and the Music Development Office.
