Our General Manager Lisa Bishop has featured prominently in local news lately, with features in The Advertiser’s Business Journal (pictured) and The City. She’s spreading the word about the potential effect legislative changes will have on live music venues in Adelaide, and highlighting Music SA’s role in seeking ways to support our industry.

Proposed changes to the The Liquor Licensing Act’s entertainment consent could minimise some of the trickier road blocks that venues face when wanting to stage live music.

This month Music SA is conducting a survey of local venues to gauge the quantity of live shows, and will compare the findings with another survey planned for May 2016 to test the impact of the legislation changes.

Every single live music performance in Adelaide and the surrounding areas throughout the month of May is being compiled into a spreadsheet to give us a snapshot of live music happening liquor-licensed premises in the city and suburbs. If you want to make sure your venue’s gigs are part of the data, please email a list of dates and artist names, along with a link to your official website and/or Facebook page, to our Music Development Consultant, Luke Penman, at luke@musicsa.com.au.

Lisa also mentions our website re-launch (June 2015), successful Adelaide Airport live music program, and more Music SA activities in the SA music scene.
