Thinking Swing? Your mind will turn to Ella, Billie, Benny, Glenn, Cab and more. They all get a tip of the hat in a show that reminisces about the time when the roaring twenties gave way to the smooth, sophisticated jazz of the ’30s and ’40s.

In the aptly titled show (“Swing”) and capable hands of the Brendan Fitzgerald Jazz Ensemble, the talented and well travelled musos have already presented shows in Sydney, Melbourne, regional Victoria, New South Wales and festivals right here in Adelaide.

swing-ensemble-frusicMainstays Brendan Fitzgerald on piano, Quinton Dunne (double bass) and Satomi Ohnishi (drums) are joined by a team of Elder Conservatorium students on brass and woodwind.

Charmaine Jones and Ben Gatehouse are front and centre on vocal duties, and actor/co-writer Steve Gration takes on the persona of music critic of the era, George Simon of New York’s Metronome magazine.

The songs and the stories come to life with visual production a plenty, making this much more than a simple sit n listen experience, hosted a venues across the metro area & beyond.
