“Sounds like the love child of Matt Corby and John Butler” – One&Three.
Locked away in the garage with his array of instruments, Adelaide solo artist Louis Donnarumma has been quietly crafting his delicate and raw folk songs.
From an early age Louis would retreat to his bedroom, listening and exploring different musical genres. From here, writing his own lyrics came naturally. Following his passion, he ended up playing bass and singing in a handful of small high school rock bands. After four years of playing small venues and open mic nights around Adelaide, he slowly started to embrace his most loved genre, folk music.
In 2012, he broke away from the bands and began writing new folk inspired music on his acoustic guitar. Influenced by the likes of Jeff Buckley, Matt Corby and Damien Rice, his own delicate folk style started to emerge. His lyrics are an honest reflection upon himself, drawing heavy emotion and storytelling as a prime motive in the music.
Debuting his EP Hint of Light back in December 2014 and following a successful 2015 Adelaide Fringe season with Maggie Rutjens, Louis is keeping the ball rolling, playing shows high Adelaide local artist such as Tom West and Kuarna Cronin, plans for new collaborations, music experiments and recording of course…
“If you want to hear a natural musician who makes music from the soul, you need to hear this EP” – Music SA.
