WINTER JAMS SCHOOL HOLIDAY MUSIC WORKSHOP – Thursday 13th July – Saturday 15th July 2017

It’s that time of year again! Music SA and the City of Prospect are proud to present Winter Jams for 2017!

Spend three days learning about the different styles of contemporary music and song writing whilst exploring creativity for FREE in a fun and welcoming environment.  Students will explore song writing, recording, rehearsal techniques and preparing for live performances in an actual live music venue – Club 5082!

Participants (aged 13-17 years) will get a chance to perform their songs live at Club 5082 on the Saturday night and their friends and family are invited to purchase tickets to the gig! The gig will be headlined by popular heavy pop rock Music SA student band Sweet Anarchy, who have previously played at the Big Day Out and are set to release their upcoming EP later this year.

There will be a “Behind the Scenes” mini documentary made of the workshop and performances so participants have something to share with their friends online afterwards.

Check out last year’s Winter Jams ‘Behind The Scenes’ video here

Day One
Focuses on song writing, looking into the importance of crafting your own song, foundations and formations and ways of catching the ear of the monumentally distracted, fragmented listener.

Day Two
Focuses on recording your own song, how to perform on stage and the discussion on stage craft.

Day Three
The focus will be on stage set up, using a PA, performing in front of a camera and running a sound check before friends and family arrive for your live gig.

BYO Lunch and water are essential.
