Genre:Acoustic, Folk, Roots

THE TIMBERS are a high energy four piece band formed in Adelaide in late 2009. Their driving rhythms will take you over, as they propel you to the gritty edges of roots, folk, and convict punk. Their explosive start in the Adelaide music scene is worthy recognition of this bands ability to marry exceptional musicianship with highly accomplished songwriting with their distinctive folk rock grooves reminiscent of musical influences such as The Pogues, Iron and Wine, The Mountain Goats, and Mumford and Sons. The instrumentation of this band is quite unique with vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Simon Basey also playing the bass lines utilising foot operated bass pedals and Benjamin Roberts on lead guitar, backing vocals, tin whistle, stomp box and foot tambourine. The quartet is rounded out with the beautifully crafted violin lines and subtle backing vocals of Sarah O’Brien and the stirring rhythmic grooves of percussionist Craig Atkins on cajon, djembe and congas and didgeridoo. Their lively and passionate approach to performing is making them a “must see” act on the Adelaide live music scene. With loyal and enthusiastic fans, growing with each gig, their reputation and fan base is ever increasing with their appeal not confined to a single age bracket. Within their short time together, The TImbers have completed 3 successful tours through Tasmania, Melbourne and South Australia, released their debut EP "Greet the Sun" (Hillside Studios) to a sold out audience in March 2011 and the second recording (Chappel Lane Studios) is scheduled to be released early 2012. Watching The Timbers live leaves you feeling a little worked out, a little in love, and a little excited about the future of Australian music. Go to www.thetimbersband.com for more information.
