My name is Terry Pickles, I am a Songwriter and I produce my own music in my home studio in Salisbury. My label is "SilkWood" I guess that makes me one of those independants. If others wish to use the studio I charge just enough to cover the cost of repairs and buying new equipment. or $20 per hour. That includes everything but lunch and CD's. Why do I charge just enough to cover expenses? Because music has been good to me. Writing and playing have given me a lot of good memories and so now I would like to help others have good memories. Sounds a little syrupy doesn't it but that's the truth. Mmm, there might be a song in there.
I use mainly my keyboard and my PC's for most of the work I do. However myself and my brother-in-law (John Murphy) recently completed a blues CD which we wrote together and produced using only live intruments (John is a bit of a purist when it comes to music. He played bass, rhythm, harmonica and a mean lead guitar He even plays slide guitar on a track called "Deadbeat". What did I do? I played keyboards of course and did some lead and backing vocals as did John. I don't mind what we use as long as it sounds good and this CD sounds good). One of the things that I find interesting but nobody else does is that we are both left handed so there was no problem using each others instruments.
The Blues CD should be out soon. We will put a couple of tracks on MusicSA for you to get an idea of the sound.
Over the last few months I have had the pleasure of working with a singing sensation.

Eliza Parker.
Eliza is only 11 yeara old. Her voice tuterer is Chris Fretwell
She wanted to make a CD of country ballads. Well how could I refuse?
Daryl Parker (Her Dad) had written a song called Spanish guitar.
