Since their first live performance in November 2007, SE BON KI RA have built a healthy reputation in the Adelaide metal scene for powerful tunes, energetic live shows and general good times. Supporting USA industrial metal act Static X and fellow thrashers such as the likes of Mortal Sin, Dreadnaught, Blood Duster, Psycroptic, Double Dragon, and Truth Corroded, SE BON KI RA have consistently carved a name for themselves in the local scene that prepared them well for the release of their debut EP entitled One thousand ways to be.
The front cover of One thousand ways to be depicts an image of turbulent darkened skies overhead with peaceful ponds and lotus flowers beneath. The lotus represents beauty and yet it comes from the mud. SE BON KI RA have attempted to capture this balance between light and shade in the instrumentation throughout the five tracks.
“Just suck it in, set your demons free. This is the pain of one thousand ways to be.” SE BON KI RA - One thousand ways to be. The debut EP One Thousand Ways To Be was launched at a killer all ages show at Adelaide Uni bar in July 2009. 350 people came out to party hard and help SE BON KI RA with their celebrations also enjoying blistering performances by fellow metal merchants Double Dragon, A Red Dawn and From Birth To Burial. Memories that will last forever. Thank you to all who made it what it was.
A recent highlight for SE BON KI RA was their inclusion on the line up for the 2010 Big Day Out in Adelaide. They tore it up on the Hot Produce stage at 6.15pm to an awesome crowd response from about 500 Adelaidians hungry for some BDO metal! Check out photos etc at www.facebook.com/sebonkira
