Jamie McPherson’s debut album Meeting Place is now here and available for sale at www.jamiemcpherson.com.au as both a CD and for digital download.

Meeting place is a eclectic blend of traditional folk, rock and country blues combined into a wonderful life brew that encompasses life, death, love and the stories of a self proclaimed balladeer and songwriter.

Meeting Place is the culmination of three years of hard work. Nestled in his Ravenwood Studio, Jamie has honed his skills writing, recording, composing and arranging all the tracks to bring forth his passion for life and his love of music in this, his debut CD.

Meeting place takes the listener on a journey from the windswept Highlands of Jamie’s ancestral home in Laggan and Badenoch, Scotland with the heartfelt track ‘Dail Chuinnidh’, to the city streets of Adelaide’s Rundle Mall with his rollicking tune ‘I Don’t Care’. Jamie’s vocals are deep and rich, displaying a life well lived and heart well travelled.

Jamie’s debut CD Meeting Place offers the listener pause for thought, as well as cause to stomp the foot. Jamie musical arrangements move from the sweeping emotional highs and lows to good old fashioned rock and roll. From the first look at the Jamie’s debut CD Meeting Place with its rich colours and evocative landscapes, you know you’re in for a diverse and colourful listen.

So turn it up and settle down. Let Jamie tell you a story and be prepared to be carried along on with his unique and original music.

"A very personal cocktail of blues, rock and folk..." - Paolo Caru

"On the one hand the sound of the wide open space, reminiscent of the The Triffids, on the other, a passionate approach reminiscent of Kim Salmon, both confirming his authentic Australian roots" - John Gjaltema, altcountry.nl

"As quickly as I put it in I took it out to make sure I hadn’t mixed it up with a new Leonard Cohen release, but no - definitely Jamie" - H.W.Bones, Music SA

Jamie McPherson is a songwriter, balladeer, composer and live performing artist in the acoustic folk tradition. His song writing reflects his loves and eclectic tastes in various musical genres.

Jamie has spent most of his life in the Western suburbs of Adelaide, but for the past seven years, has called the township of Strathalbyn his home.

After leaving high school early, Jamie set about expanding both his education and love of the arts by studying audio engineering as well as film, radio, photography, video production and writing. Jamie considers himself a jack of all trades, having worked as a stage manager, sound engineer, filmmaker, barman, kitchen hand, salesman, telemarketer, public servant and even spy.

He bought his first guitar and harmonica when he was 17, and spent time jamming with friends and making the occasional impromptu performance at gigs. He also played the tenor drum with the Mount Barker Caledonian Pipes and Drums. For most of his life, his music was his private passion, until the death of his son made him take stock of what was important to him, and he started venturing into song writing, performing and recording his compositions in his newly built Ravenwood studio.

Jamie’s songs are stories of love, life, family and friendship, observing the world around him and the people occupying it. Often his songs incorporate his love of the Australian landscape and his ancestral home of Scotland. His words and melodies are firmly rooted in these two worlds and have a definitive Australian-Celtic feel with a touch of Americana. And he is never afraid to poke fun at himself or the society we live in.

Jamie resides in Strathalbyn with his wife, poet and artist Tikarma Vodicka-McPherson. He enjoys music, cinema, classic literature, the Australian bush, being politically incorrect, drinking whiskey and eating meat.
