Give Or Take - 7 peice Ska/Punk band from Adelaide, Australia. We started playing early '08 with Rhys on Bass, Harry on the tenor, Paarth on drums and Myself (Conor) on the Guitar. We decided that one horn player wasn't enough for a ska band so managed to rope in Harry's friend Parker to play on the trombone. That was short lived (I reckon he played 3 shows) and so was back to one. Played odds and ends around town, not really achieving much just enjoying playing. Went on for a couple of months until Rhys met Rowan who also played the tenor and somehow convinced him to come out for a prac.
Rowans first gig was awesome. Played at live on light with god god dammit dammit, sa waste, guerilla monsoon and johnny adams (to drop some names) and had a blast. With a respectable horn section and some new found inspiration we started to get a little bit more into it, writing better songs, playing bigger shows and just enjoying it more. Went on like this for another couple of months, stockpiling a bit of cash and wasting it on crap. Once again we found ourselves wanting more horns and saw a couple of trumpet players come here and there but none of them sticking.
After the novelty of playing for the sake of playing started to wear off we decided we really had to get a decent CD out there for all the people to enjoy. Our now best friend Smith came along at the perfect time and set up everything. We recorded it over the course of about a month with the talented Adam Collins who did an awesome job. The ten track will be put out through Noise Brigade Records and we'll be having the launch in a couple of weeks. After that it'll be available at any of our shows or bigstar.
Anyway, since then had James, from our friends 'the Threat', and Adrian come in, both on the trumpet and played our first gig as a 7 piece at fowlers in July. Thats about it - Hopefully see you at a show sometime, Peace. GOT.
