Circus Arcade Biography

Circus Arcade

Genre:Rock

"A cauldron of the ethereally poetic, heavily spliced with mutated rock" is how at least one drunken buffoon has summarised the virtues of this Adelaide-bred four piece.

Deep from the ghetto of the City of Churches has sprung fusion unit Circus Arcade. The band formed in May 2005, shortly after singer Mike Why’s debut solo offering, ‘Why Anything?’ generated two boomer radio singles on Nova (Weapon Was A Gun and Eyesight). The album was recorded at Sodypop Studios in Croydon during most of 2004. It gave the newly found ensemble a huge selection of tracks to perform at their frequent gigs over Adelaide.

Whilst writing and rehearsing at Bank Studios, the band experimented with sound whilst compiling a new set list. Eleven new songs were born. Five were chosen for recording of the then-upcoming EP.

Recorded in little over a week in June by the famous Brett Sody, the quartet is back with an energetic creation spawning five lustful tracks on a first self-titled EP. The melting pot of influences from all band members has created a record which defies genreism. Joining vocalist Mike Why, the crude posse is completed by Daniel Colagrossi (guitar and bass), Ben Townsend (guitar and bass) and 'Mad Dog' Gareth 'Gaz' Hermann (drums). Hermann boasts the rare, yet dubious honour of physically eating his snare drum during a frenetic percussion solo.

The new release will be launched at The Jade Monkey on Friday, September 29. The band has recently completed a video the EP track Fingernail Moon, and  in the plans of a huge promotional tour.
