Sounds of Summer Call for Artists
Sounds of Summer continues to be an extremely popular outdoor live music event for young people aged 12 - 25 years and provides the opportunity for young local musicians to showcase their talent and receive exposure. The quality of Sounds of Summer was recognised at the 2008 Australia Day Awards where it won the 'Community Event of the Year.'
This year, the event will include a live broadcast from FreshFM, 7 live bands, a skate comp, pool games, free food, competitions and heaps of giveaways!
Sounds of summer will be held on Saturday December 6th at the Marion Swimming Centre, Parkholme from 4pm - 9pm.
The number of young people who have attended has increased each year, with over 800 people in 2007. This year, they are expecting over 1000!!!
What's in it for you? Exposure, exposure, exposure! Although your band will not be paid to perform, you will be listed on the event promo which will be advertised in Rip it Up & MusicSA, distributed through schools, universities, TAFEs, displayed in shop windows, local noticeboards, etc. At the event, you will be seen and heard by approximately 1000 or more people! If you are one of the successful bands, you will also have a chance at an 'On-Air' interview with Fresh FM! You are also welcome to sell/give away any of your own EPs, albums, etc on the day.
Selection Process:
When selecting the seven bands to play at Sounds of Summer, the following factors are considered:
- Quality of music
- Age of band members / artist (at least one needs to be 25 years or under)
- Music genre (a diverse selection of music among the chosen bands / artists is preferred but not essential)
- Band members / artists have some connection to the City of Marion area (preferred but not essential).
Bands will be notified by no later than Friday October 31st by phone or mail if they have been selected.
