Local Artist Headlines & More * 17 MAY 2012

This gig marks the return of bassist Anna Moble, who is back from maternity leave; her temporary replacement J-Wah (The Beards) is indeed performing on the night, albeit in solo mode. Kelshy also features new drummer Jason Sifis, namesake Matt Kelsh on guitar, The Fiddle Chick's Emma Luker and frontman and singer/songwriter Soursob Bob. Diesel Witch are also on the bill for the evening's entertainment, so head on over and enjoy Kelshy's own brand of 'punk for folk music purists'.

Recording took place at Chapel Lane Studios, and vocalist Simon Basey said they had such a good time recording, that they were all "really sad that it had to come to an end." The band had promised their new single would capture their high-energy style of roots and folk - and you'll agree they've succeeded.  “Into the Forest is a frantic, moody, and dramatic song about someone being cast away from society,” said Simon. “There’s a sense of frustration, anger, and isolation which I think everyone can relate to in some way.”

ou can download the single now on Triple J Unearthed, and you can also enjoy it in video form with a new clip on YouTube that was just uploaded this afternoon! Music SA has already added it to our YouTube Channel... Highlane Films' Steve O'Connor and Matthew Hill produced the project, which was filmed entirely in one afternoon and night, and uses projections as lighting. The result is a moody and energetic piece that has " left a little bit of mystery surrounding the band", explains Steve.

Celebrate the start of what's sure to be a great collection of songs, this Friday at the Cranker, with support from Madclassic, Todd Sibbin + Tom West, and Anthony D'Antonio.
